The bike is also ripe for upgrades and, with a few parts swapped out, we think it would be great as a lightweight, mile-munching machine. So really this is a bike for speedy trail centre rides, rather than super-challenging terrain.
You do have to shift your weight forward to keep front-wheel traction over tricky ascents, and downhill the bike is fairly noisy. The geometry is modern but not extreme with a generous reach, leading to a comfortable ride. There is a bottle mount too, but we found there to be minimal clearance. The triple-butted alloy frame looks purposeful and has externally routed cables, making for easy maintenance. It has a well-chosen spec that balances cost, performance and strength, with a RockShox front fork, a SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain and Maxxis tyres. The Boardman MTR 8.9 has the same geometry and suspension as the pricier MTR 9.0. The Boardman MTR 8.9 has the same geometry as the MTR 9.0.

Read our full Bird Aether 9 (2021) review. When it comes to climbing, ample space between the saddle and bar lets you put your body weight in the right place and the suspension robs very few watts.Įlsewhere, the bike has a full Shimano XT M8100 groupset and DT Swiss EXC 1501 wheels, making this bike not just a great performer but excellent value for money too. Paired with the RockShox 140mm Pike Ultimate fork and Super Deluxe rear shock, this translates to a bike that is unflappable and right at home on twisty, steep descents.
The Bird Aether 9 won our 2021 Trail Bike of the Year award, thanks to its ability to deliver in virtually all situations from long days in the saddle to short, sharp bursts in the woods.īird is known for long and slack geometry and the Aether 9 follows suit, with a 65-degree head-tube angle and 77-degree seat tube. Excellent geometry and exceptional value for money.BikeRadar’s trail bike of the year 2021.After 1 particular safety issue a few years back, they really stepped up the security and implemented an around-the-clock guard, adding even more peace of mind. The Bird Aether 9 is pleasingly simple with its silver aluminium frame and external cable routing. Just like most complexes around Atlanta, there have been break-ins and car thefts throughout the years (luckily nothing has ever happened to me) but I dont feel that it is fair to blame the management team or the complex for any of that - it is a normal occurrence around here and there is nothing they can do to prevent it more than they have. While the security gate has broken down from time to time, it is almost always in perfect working condition and helps to give me peace of mind. Some complaints I've read talk about the high cost that Post spends on landscaping, but I think it keeps the complex bright and fresh looking and keeps it from looking run-down, which is key.Įven after so much time, my apartment continues to look current, not dated, and the Post leasing office has been great about changing out carpet, repainting and repairing as needed through the years. The grounds are always immaculate and barely look a day older in my time living at the complex, which is a true testament to their staff and heavy emphasis on landscaping. At any rate, they seem to take most of my concerns or maintenance requests seriously and I can never remember a time in nearly a decade here that I had to wait more than 2-3 hours for maintenance, as long as I called them during business hours. Management has changed a few times through the years, but I've felt that they've been consistently friendly and easy to work with. I've been living in Post Briarcliff too long to even want to admit here, and as such, I think that makes me a good candidate for review! In all the years I've been at this complex, I have only had the best service and speak very highly about the community. THANK YOU in advance for your help and insight! If you have photos you can share, those would also be much appreciated. We would appreciate any other information you can provide. Bugs (We know that there are bugs everywhere but it seems some apartment communities have worse infestations than others.) Parking convenience (None of these communities have assigned parking and we were wondering if parking becomes difficult during peak hours.) Gables admits there is no concrete between floors.) Sound insulation (Calibre Woods and Post claim there is poured concrete between floors but some Post reviews say sound insulation is still poor. We read but it seems like the reviews on the website are a little extreme (mostly from angry residents). However, we would like to get inside information from current and recent residents. Those are our top three choices right now. Anyone currently living (or recently lived) at any of the following apartment communities?
